Saudi Arabia were first represented by a 10-man team at the Munich 1972 Olympic Games. All competed in athletics.
Hadi Soua'an AL-SOMAILY JAADAN was Saudi Arabia's first Olympic medallist. He took silver in the men's 400m at the Sydney 2000 Games.
Khalid AL EID claimed a bronze medal in showjumping at the same Games. Saudi Arabia qualified for the final tournament in men's football at the Los Angeles 1984 and Atlanta 1996 Games but have yet to win a match.
In Beijing 2008 Saudi Arabia had a 14-man team in athletics, shooting, equestrian and swimming.
