Highlights

Samoa were first represented by an eight-man team at the Los Angeles 1984 Olympic Games, they have competed at every subsequent Olympic Games. They competed as Western Samoa until 1996.

Weightlifter Marcus STEPHEN finished ninth in the featherweights at the Barcelona 1992 Olympic Games. He later competed for Nauru at the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games. Wrestler Uati IUTANA competed in the freestyle welterweight at the Seoul 1988 Olympic Games and younger brother Fa'afetai took part in the Greco-Roman middleweight at Sydney 2000. Seventeen of their Olympians to date have competed in boxing.

They have yet to win a medal, although Samoan-born boxer David TUA represented New Zealand as 19-year-old and claimed a bronze medal at the Barcelona 1992 Olympic Games.
