Rwanda were first represented by a team of three who took part in athletics at the Los Angeles 1984 Olympic Games.
Mathias NTAWULIKURA is Rwanda's most prolific Olympic competitor to date. He competed in five Olympic Games and finished eighth in the men's 10,000m in 1996 and 15th in the marathon in 2000.
Marcianne MUKAMURENZI finished 38th in the women's marathon at the Seoul 1988 Olympic Games. She competed in three Olympic Games for Rwanda from 1984 to 1992.
Rwanda sent two swimmers and two athletes to the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games. To date Rwandans have competed in athletics, cycling and swimming.
They have yet to win a medal.
