Highlights

Qatar's first appearance was at the Olympic Games came in Los Angeles in 1984. Twenty-four men competed in athletics, football and shooting.

Their first medal came in athletics when Mohamed Ahmed SULAIMAN took bronze in the men's 1500m in 1992.

Their other medal came in the men's heavyweight weightlifting at the Sydney 2000 Games. Asaad Said SAIF took bronze.

Their football team reached the quarterfinals at the Barcelona 1992 Olympic Games. They beat Egypt and drew with Colombia. In the quarterfinals, they were knocked out by Poland.

Qatar sent a team of 20 to the Olympic Games in Beijing in 2008 in six sports.
