Highlights
Palestine first appeared on the Olympic stage at the Atlanta 1996 Olympic Games.
The 10,000m runner Majed ABU MARAHEEL became their first Olympian. He was their only competitor in Atlanta.
In 2000, the Palestine team doubled in size. Ramy AL DEEB finished 44th in the men's 20km walk. Swimmer Samar NASSAR competed in the 50m freestyle and was the first woman to represent Palestine.
Palestine's team of four at the 2008 Games in Beijing was their largest to date. It featured two athletes and two swimmers.
To date Palestine have taken part only in athletics and swimming.
They have yet to win a medal.
