Highlights
Boxer Issaka DABORE occupies a special place in Niger's Olympic history. He was their first representative at the Tokyo 1964 Olympic Games, where he reached the welterweight quarterfinals.
At his third Olympic Games in Munich eight years later, he took bronze at light welterweight and remains Niger's only Olympic medallist to date.
Fourteen-year-old Rachida MAHAMANE became Niger's first female Olympian when she competed in the 5,000m at the Atlanta 1996 Olympic Games.
She remains their youngest participant to date. In 2008, Niger sent a team of four to Beijing to compete in athletics and swimming.
