Highlights

Myanmar were first represented by a four-man team at the London 1948 Olympic Games.

Boxer Tin TUN reached the featherweight quarterfinals at the Tokyo 1964 Olympic Games and weightlifter Gyi Aung MAUNG also placed fifth in the flyweights at the Munich 1972 Olympic Games.

Their football team qualified for the final tournament. They beat Sudan but did not qualify for the knockout stages. Since 1989, they have competed under the name of Myanmar. They sent a team of six to the Beijing 2008 Games. They have yet to win an Olympic medal.
