Boxer Bruno JULIE became his country's first Olympic medallist when he took bronze in the bantamweight division at the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games.

Mauritius first took part in the Olympic Games in Los Angeles in 1984 when a team of four participated in athletics. They have not missed a Games since.

The 110m hurdler Judex LEFOU was the first from Mauritius to compete in three consecutive Olympic Games. He competed from 1988 to 1996.

 In Beijing, Mauritius were represented by a team of 11 in seven sports.
