Highlights

Liberia was first represented by a four-man team in athletics at the Melbourne 1956 Olympic Games.

They have always taken part in athletics but at the Seoul 1988 Olympic Games, they also sent four boxers.

Samuel STEWART won one bout to finished equal ninth in the light flyweight division, the best performance yet by a Liberian.

They have competed only in these two sports. Alifu Albert MASSAQUOI completed the Olympic marathon in 1960, placing 62nd, and again in 1968, finishing 45th. Seventeen-year-old Grace Ann DINKINS became Liberia's first female Olympian.

She competed in the 100m in 1984. In 1996 she raced in the 400m and in 2000 she took part in the 100m.

At the Beijing 2008 Games, Liberia sent a team of three. Jangy ADDY finished 20th in the men's decathlon.
