Highlights

Lao PDR were first represented at the Moscow 1980 Olympic Games by a team of 17 men and two women. They competed in athletics, boxing and shooting.

There have been 40 Olympians from Lao, half of them competing in athletics. Sirivanh KETAVONG completed the women's marathon in 1996 and 2000.

Swimmer Vilayphone VONGPHACHANH (women's 50m freestyle) and sprinter Philaylack SACKPRASEUTH (women's 100m) competed at Athens 2004 and Beijing 2008. Lao have yet to win a medal.
