Highlights
Kiribati were first represented at the Athens 2004 Olympic Games by a team of three. To date they have contested only the athletics and weightlifting events.
Kaitinano MWEMWEATA competed in the women's 100m and Kakianako NARIKI in the men's 100m.
Sixteen-year-old weightlifter Meameaa THOMAS carried the flag and placed 13th in the men's light heavyweight. This remains Kiribati's best performance.
In Beijing in 2008, Kiribati sent a team of two comprised of a 100m sprinter and a weightlifter. They have yet to win a medal.
