Highlights

This country first appeared at the Atlanta 1996 Olympic Games. They sent a team of two athletes and a wrestler and to date have competed only in these two sports.

Wrestler Talata EMBALO was the first from his country to take part in two Olympic Games. He also carried the flag in both Atlanta and at Sydney 2000.

The 800m runner Anhel CAPE was Guinea Bissau's first female Olympian. She competed at the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games and also in Athens in 2004. Guinea Bissau sent a team of three to the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games.

 They have yet to win a medal.
