A team of seven represented Belize at the Mexico 1968 Olympic Games, under its colonial name of British Honduras. The name Belize has been used since 1976.
Shooter Owen PHILLIPS made his Olympic debut aged 66 when he competed in the free pistol and small bore rifle prone events at the Munich 1972 Olympic Games.
In 1976, he made his second Olympic appearance in prone rifle at the age of 70. Road cyclist Camille SOLIS was the first female representative when she competed in the road race at the Barcelona 1992 Olympic Games.
Sprinter Emma WADE carried the Belize flag on both her Olympic appearances in 2000 and 2004.
Belize sent a team of four to the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games and were represented in athletics and taekwondo.
They have yet to win an Olympic medal.
