To define the areas where the restrictions will apply, Event Zones have been established around every venue and route being used during the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
The Olympic Park in Stratford, east London, will be the focus for the Games, but many other venues around the country are being used. These range from the well-established football stadia, including the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff and Hampden Park in Glasgow, to the Sailing venue at Weymouth and Portland, which has been specially adapted for the Games. A new, permanent white water venue has been created in the Lea Valley Park and existing venues, such as Greenwich Park and Horse Guards Parade, will also be used.
The Event Zones are set out in a series of detailed maps.
Where an event runs along a road route, such as the Road Cycle Races or Marathons, the Event Zone includes the road route itself and the pavement on each side of the road or, if there is no pavement, the area two metres either side of the road.
You can find out when and where the Regulations apply by using the postcode search tool.
Controls within the Event Zones will apply during the Event Periods – the times that the venues are being used for Olympic or Paralympic events as well as in many cases covering the day before the event (or a few days before at the Olympic Park).
You can find a full list of the when the Regulations apply at each Event Zone in section eight of the Detailed Notice.
