Denise Lewis won gold in a nail-biting Heptathlon competition at the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games.
She won gold at the 1994 Commonwealth Games in Victoria and bronze at the Atlanta 1996 Olympic Games. She then won silver at the World Championships in 1997 and 1999; then gold at the 1998 European Championships and Commonwealth Games in Kuala Lumpur before her Sydney triumph.
