Since becoming an International Inspiration Ambassador in July 2009, I have been looking forward to the opportunity to see for myself the difference that this innovative programme is making to the lives of children and young people.
Sport is an amazing tool for reaching out and engaging people, and the Olympics takes the power of sport to another level. It’s incredibly exciting to be a part of something that is using sport and play in such a positive way, both in the UK and in developing countries.

The ´International Inspiration` shows that there is a variability in sport according to cultural backgrounds - when I compare the PE in Europe with that of the US for example, the differences emerge quickly!
Therefore it is necessary to have a closer look at the environment in that sport is put in: The "institutionalized" sport in schools and clubs and the "individual" sport young people do in their spare time.
In my opinion the position of PE in schools could be updated because many studies show that there is a positive effect of sport on learning and memory; the task of PE could be extented by offering plenty of choices to find out what sport children like (in workshops or so).
The youth culture is closely connected with trend sport, fashion style, happenings and so on - why not trying out this more "unusual" sport in schools?
