A once-in-a-lifetime opportunity working for London 2012

Coming straight from education into such a dynamic, exciting job is definitely a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for which I am very grateful to have. I can undoubtedly say that this is definitely the place to be for any and every sporting enthusiast! I'm really looking forward to developing my Olympic and Paralympic knowledge, which I hope will benefit me in the future.

I recently left college studying A-Levels in Business, Psychology, Economics and Media. I saw this opportunity being advertised here on the London 2012 website and immediately clicked the 'Apply now' button! The School Leaver programme aims to recruit young people from all around London, straight from education into the organising committee.

After a series of intense yet relaxed interviews, assessment centres and group tests, the recruitment team managed to whittle down the 150+ young candidates to 10 hopefuls. I was really excited after being called and told on the phone that I had been successful – that moment has definitely played a major pivotal role in my life.

It's been such an amazing experience since starting in the Committee and I have learnt so much along my journey. I have also had some fantastic opportunities come my way. For example, I have had the chance to be on stage in front of the whole Committee with our Chairman Seb Coe and some other world famous athletes such as Jonathan Edwards, speaking on behalf of the young voices in the Committee. I have also had a short clip charting my Olympic Journey aired on the BBC.

I'm now in the Accommodation team. My role is as the System Coordinator, which involves the coordinating of our client request portal for allocation of rooms during Games time. (Much more exciting than it sounds, believe me!) It is a very big role to play but with the help and support of my team here at LOCOG, I'm sure it will be a wonderful journey. 2012, here we come!
