If we want the Paralympic Games in 2012 to change attitudes about disability, we need to see disability in a different way. Disability is not something that's tragic and sad.

We have an impressive record in Paralympic sport which is envied across the world. ParalympicsGB finished high in the medals table in Beijing last year and in just three years our great Paralympians will again be on the field of play – but this time on home soil.
The London 2012 Paralympic Games will be a wonderful opportunity to showcase the talents of our Paralympians and the achievements of disabled people on a global scale. Make sure you are there to cheer on the great competitors.

For Paralympians, the end of one Paralympic Games marks the start of the four year build up to the next Games. So with three years to go to London 2012, how are athletes preparing? It's very different now to what I experienced a decade ago…

Boccia is one of the lesser-known Paralympic sports. Yet it's exciting and in Britain we're pretty good at it: we won gold in Beijing last year, in fabulous fashion.

0 Comments on this postI was very happy to hear that women's boxing will be added to the 2012 Olympics. There are so many young women who work diligently to develop their skills in order to become talented athletes in the sport of boxing, many of whom have been working hard to be included in the Olympics for over 8 years.
I am excited for them because now they will be able to showcase their passion and talent in the ring for the whole world to see. I understand what it takes to prepare for competition in the sport of boxing.

4 Comments on this postWe all get excited when we see records breaking at sporting events, like the World Athletics Championships in Berlin going on right now. We will all remember Usain Bolt's 9.58 at the weekend - wow!
But an article I read yesterday mentioned Lasse Viren, who was known as the 'Flying Finn'. I hadn't heard of him before, so I did some digging to find out more. It turns out he was quite remarkable - and there are a number of things to learn from the way he approached competition.

The Handball Arena after the Games will become a multi-sports venue with retractable seating for 6,000 spectators and flexible facilities to hold a range of training and competition events of all levels - this will include Basketball.Read more of “Basketball star visits Olympic Park”

Recently I was fortunate enough to spend the morning with some of the London 2012 team, taking a tour of what can only be described as 'the best thing to ever happen to east London'. Not only is the Park going to be an ever lasting legacy to the city after the Games have past, but they are currently providing a huge break for hundreds of unemployed workers that have suffered at the hands of the recession.

0 Comments on this post‘Mela’ in Hindi means a get together or gathering, this was so true for the event I volunteered at, celebrating south Asian culture at Gunnersbury Park.
Volunteering at this event was special to me as I used to go to these events when I was younger and now I was here representing London 2012 talking to so many different people, Sikhs, Hindus, Muslims, tourists and those that just wanted to experience South Asian culture. Everyone was enjoying the music, the food and the shopping.

The Games will be the most fantastic showcase of art, music, dance, and sporting prowess. The Opening and Closing Ceremonies will give London the chance to show the world just how innovative and cutting edge we can be. Ceremonies
