The Olympic Delivery Authority (ODA) is three today

It is three years today since the Olympic Delivery Authority (ODA) was established and a great deal has been achieved in this time thanks to the efforts of all those working on the project.

A huge amount of work has taken place to clean the Olympic Park site of decades of contamination, demolish old buildings and move the the powerlines that stretched across the area underground. This has enabled construction to start ahead of schedule.

Designs are in place for the venues and parklands, work is well underway on the utilities and infrastructure needed for during the Games and afterwards, as it is on many of the transport projects, such as the substantial upgrade of Stratford Regional Station:

The first venue, the Sailing facilities at Weymouth, is already complete, on time and on budget:

Change on the Olympic Park site itself has been rapid. The Olympic Stadium steel is now clearly visible for miles around:

Last month we began construction on the Velodrome and this week we started the roof lift on the Zaha Hadid-designed Aquatics Centre, one of the biggest engineering and construction challenges of the project and a stunning design to meet many spectators as they arrive in 2012.

Construction work is also well underway on the Olympic Village, with the first blocks now starting to come out of the ground.

By the end of the year the site workforce will have doubled and in the next 12 months the Olympic Park will be transformed. With 75p in every pound we are spending being invested in long-term regeneration, the legacy for the project is already being realised.

To be able to say, three years after starting work, that we are on track is a great achievement. No one on the team is complacent but it is important to recognise how far we have come as it gives us confidence for the challenges ahead.
