This is an important first step in our volunteer journey. Trailblazers is a programme that we want to continue right to the Games in 2012. We have had over 300 applicants for the programme which is an indication of the wealth of support and enthusiasm we have to deliver a great Games.
From the LOCOG team: We will be reviewing the success of this programme after three months, and are hoping the next batch of Trailblazer volunteers will join us in summer 2009.
This is good news - hopefully there will be a lot more places available in the next recruitment batch.

Hi, I don't really understand what this volunteering programme entails. Could someone explain? What is it and what do trailblazers do? How is it different from the general olympic/paralympic volunterring programme?Last: from your reply on 27/01/09 above, does this mean that the next application process will open in the summer 2009 or when exactly?Thanks.
Thanks for your questions.1. The Trailblazers are office-based volunteers helping with a range of admin tasks across LOCOG. You can find out more about the programme at london2012.com/trailblazers.2. It’s a pre-Games volunteering programme – the main Volunteer Programme is for help during the Games in 2012. The official registration process starts next year.3.
