Over 2 billion people worldwide watched London 2012's 8 minute Handover segments in the Olympic and Paralympic Games Closing Ceremonies in Beijing 

9 partners now signed up with the London 2012 Organising Committee (LOCOG) - 7 at Tier 1 and 2 at Tier 2). Over two thirds of its domestic sponsorship target raised

640 potential Pre-Games Training Camps included in the London 2012 PGTC Guide (465 are Olympic-only; 13 are Paralympic-only;162 are both Olympic and Paralympic)

500,000 cubic metres of soil cleaned of contamination such as petrol, oil, tar and heavy metals like arsenic and lead

5,000 schools celebrated Paralympic Handover and marked the domestic education programme launch

655 Open Weekend events were held in communities across the UK to celebrate the launch of the Cultural Olympiad

39 Inspire programme projects so far – by this time next year we envisage a total of 230 projects will be awarded the mark


2 6km long powerline tunnels built, 200km of cabling installed

More than 3,000 workers on site, over half from London and almost one in ten were previously unemployed 

Nearly 200 buildings (since the start of demolition in 2007) demolished on the Olympic Park with more than 90% of demolition materials being recycled or reused 

1 permanent bridge now in place and construction work well underway on several more – more than 30 new bridges will be constructed in total

Construction work underway on 3 Olympic venues and completed on one, the sailing facilities at Weymouth and Portland

Designs unveiled for 100 hectares of new parklands

10,000 visitors to the Olympic Park since the start of the visits programme

1,000 young ambassadors have been recruited together with the Youth Sports Trust to promote 2012 and sport in schools

40,000 people had free tickets to the Visa London 2012 party on the Mall

70,000 young people attended our Get Set London roadshow in 2008

1 million views for our 'Celebrate' film on Youtube and london2012.com asking people to get involved in Handover

Over 700 Handover flags were distributed across the UK for local events - sports halls, libraries, museums and town halls

33 Live Sites were in place across the UK for Handover celebrations

780 businesses have already won London 2012-related contracts. 98% of these are UK businesses, 46% outside of London and 12% Host Boroughs. 68% are small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).

535 workers from the Host Boroughs work on the Olympic Park site

5 adidas 'adizones' being trialled in Newham, Tower Hamlets, Waltham Forest, Hackney and Greenwich.

875 Londoners have graduated through the 'Personal Best' London 2012 Pre-Volunteer Programme, now trialled in 11 London boroughs (most graduated this October). From the earlier graduates, 42% went on to further training, 33% to further volunteering and 15% entered work.
