Under the gaze of visitors from Beijing, Vancouver, Sochi, the 2016 bidding nations and the cultural world, President Rogge delivered his thoughts on the development of the Olympic Movement and the challenges that lie ahead.
Pierre de Coubertin, the founder of the modern Olympic Games, spoke to a group of similar people in 1904 at the RSA, describing his vision of the then fledgling organisation and Jacques Rogge was deeply honoured to be following in these illustrious footsteps.
