…but if Christopher Robin (or anybody from LOCOG) goes down with Alice then he or she might be surprised at what they find this week on one of the world’s greatest spaces because we’ve arrived!
In fact even the Changing of the Guard is being adjusted this week as we prepare for the Visa London 2012 Party on Sun 24 August. The area surrounding the stage and the backstage area is all fenced off, some of the roads are shut to allow our event production company to get on with the work and it’s a hive of activity. Whilst pedestrians and cyclists are coming and going as usual, we’re providing extra entertainment as the various elements of the show go in.
So far, the framework for the stage is in, as are the backstage offices, catering (very important for the hundreds of crew on-site), our sponsor area construction team and the site is a hive of yellow-jacketed men and women, forklift trucks and equipment. With a fine weekend’s weather behind us, we’re on time and in good shape.
Next comes the technical get-in, later in the week we’ll see our screens and PA being installed whilst the BBC trucks will roll up with all the broadcast equipment. In 24 hours, they’ll turn the site into a live broadcast base ready for rehearsals. Meanwhile, the finishing touches will be applied with the hoisting of the specially-created London 2012 flags all down The Mall and the installation of our branding across the site.
So, keep your eyes on the weather forecast, watch the seaweed in the porch and think of all the people who are getting us ready for the great day this Sunday when we celebrate as London becomes Host City - not just on The Mall but all over the UK too at the 215 or more events now
listed on our database.
If you want to be part of it - watch our
celebrate video and share your celebrations with us. The best will be shown on big screens around the UK.
There’s Handover Flags galore, we’re singing all over the UK at the
Live Sites, where the local cities are creating their own local celebrations, and there’ll be 40,000 people or more in front of Buckingham Palace ready to party!

I a Brit living in California. I am so excited about London 2012. I get excited everytime I see a British Olympian win. We are winners for the Olympics to come to England. I feel we have all kinds of nationalities and cultures that make a Kaleidoscope of peoples from all over that are representing our country. This can be part of the themes, in the celebrations/ceremonies.
We have so many talented people in Broadway music and all things that are unique to British that people from all over the world desire to get a taste of.
I am so proud of all the people involved in making this a success in 2012, I say do your best, make it special and don't worry. Promote your country with pride.
I pray for success and safety all the way for all involved. Gracie.

This looks like a really interesting article but the pink background is so strong I cannot get past the first paragraph without it straining my eyes.
