On Saturday I believe I truly experienced Olympic magic and now - as if I wasn't already a fan of the Games - I know I want to make the journey all the way to 2012 and continue to be part of it.
In Shunyi District with a beautiful mountain backdrop I watched the mens four row to gold victory at the Olympic Rowing facility. Then in the Birds Nest Stadium I was present when the world record for the 100 metres was broken.
The following day I was still hoarse from cheering on all of Team GB and the rest of world in their quest for sporting glory. The experience of visiting the 2008 Games has been worth the mosiquito bites and the lack of sleep and four years until it is our turn to host the world seems just too far away.

It's great that so many people are going to be involved in 2012 as Olympiads and volunteers. I attended the flag raising at Hadleigh Castle for the handover, where the mountain biking will be held. I have put some of my thoughts and feelings into a poem.Sharon Forsdyke
Olympic Victory
The Olympics are now over
And Team GB have come home,
With their medals of achievement
Which have become a great milestone.
Now we’ve 2012 to focus on,
And Essex will be host
To the event of mountain biking
On a site near to the coast.
The handover’s been completed,
The Olympic flag’s been raised,
And after the official celebrations,
There’s arrangements to be made.
HCCP will be the venue-The terrain will be just right;
For the skills of speed and balance,
Will be challenged on this site.
The views of Canvey Island
Surrounded by the Thames,
And the distant sweep of Kent,
With the wind farm off Southend,
Will ensure this ancient landmark
Where a community once thrived,
Has another place in history,
When its spirit is revived.
