Wow!
Working with these vibrant young people in South East and East London is amazing. Even as a professional filmmaker with years of experience in moving image education, I have been continuously inspired by the energy, commitment & perspectives of these guys.
The films created through the Welcoming the World project may appear short, but they represent hours of creative thought, planning, design, actual filming and editing to get over their potent messages
None of this would have been possible without fantastic support from school staff, parents behind the scenes, and members of the public on location who smiled on us. Our team, Andy, Savinder and Jes ensured the young people developed a range of filmmaking skills; while established documentary filmmaker Pratibha Parma inspired not only the young peoples methodology of creation and ideas - but mine too.
'Welcoming the World' has been a great opportunity for them to capture and powerfully present their lives on film, so their voices are heard across the world. (I can't wait to get them uploaded so you can see them too...)
