Basketball and batak in Kensington and Chelsea

Jo, Bronze medallist, 18 Mar 2008

It was a real honour to be a part of the Get Set London roadshow in KensingtonĀ and Chelsea. I had a fantastic day and spent lots of time interacting with adults and children which included trying out the various fitness testing equipment, where the reaction test (batak) proved very popular (I could have played on it all day!).

Through the vast amount of information available on the day, it provided people of the borough a chance to see just what it means for London to be hosting the Games in 2012. People could find out how to get involved in sport and culture and the volunteering and business opportunities leading up to 2012.

I spent a good portion of the day playing basketball with youngsters who were either already a member of a team and those who had never played before, but had lots of fun learning a few new skills with me. It was a great opportunity to speak with children who were keen sports enthusiasts and those who just enjoyed watching sport.

When I left the roadshow, it really hit home how fast 2012 is approaching and how much London has to look forward to, both on and off the sporting field!
