Getting businesses in the Highlands and Islands involved in 2012

Bob, Highlands and Islands of Scotland, 29 Feb 2008

On Wednesday last week I was able to attend the London 2012 Business Network road show held in Perth. Many other businesses joined me, to better understand how we can gain from the many opportunities that might arise from London winning the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

The event organising committee did a sensational job and the event went down without a hitch - and that wasn’t just because I was on the committee. The speakers had some really good information to share. It was informative and realistic – not promising the earth. The practical level of the information was what impressed me most.
My position is a 'facilitator' role, so now I am armed with the knowledge to best inform the businesses in the Highlands and Islands of Scotland to get involved in London 2012.

I think I can speak for most people when I say we all know about the Games coming to London and that there must be opportunities, but how do we get involved with them? Together the speakers, static displays and literature answered all the main questions and those who attended now know who to contact if they have others. Armed with new found knowledge, businesses now have to make up their mind if they are up for the challenges and opportunities presented by the 2012 developments.
