GOLD MEDAL DONATION
In September 2008 he decided to auction off one of the three gold medals he won at the 2008 Olympic Games [the floor exercise gold medal], with all the proceeds going towards the reconstruction of earthquake-ravaged Sichuan province, where he comes from. "The floor exercise title belongs to me, so I'd rather select this gold medal. I was born in Sichuan and I was so sad when the earthquake struck the region. A lot of people lost their lives and a lot of houses were destroyed. I'd like to share my honour from the Olympics with them and hope to do something for them."
