ASSAULT COURSE
She took part in the 2007 Tough Guy Challenge in Wolverhampton in order to raise funds for Parkinson's Disease sufferers. The challenge was an endurance race that combined cross country running with an assault course. "The worst part was the underwater tunnels," she said. "When I came up I had to remind myself of my name in order to keep my concentration because my head was so cold." She was the first female to finish and 125th overall from a field of 4,000. EARLY DAYS
She sailed for the Trimpley Sailing Club on the Midland Optimist circuit and everything progressed from there. She was recruited into the British Optimist squad in 2001 and spent a year in that before graduating up to the Topper for 18 months, and finally reaching the Radial when she was 15. She moved into the British youth squad and won a bronze medal at the 2005 Youth Sailing World Championships in Korea. (thedailysail.com, 15 May 2012)
