Additional information

Start of sporting career
He started the sport at age 10. (FEI, 12 Aug 2010)

Reason for taking up this sport
"When my parents separated I often used to go to my mother's weekend home in Normandy. At the time, my mother used to ride at the Delaveau Stables and jump in competitions at the 1.20-1.25m level. When she stopped, she retired her horse Apollon in Normandy. I was ten years old, and that's where the story began...compared to other riders ten is relatively late to begin, so I started immediately on large high ponies."

He was actively involved in judo and tennis, but stopped them shortly after starting jumping as it was "impossible to do everything." (kevinstaut.com, 22 Aug 2011)

Most memorable sporting achievement
Being crowned individual champion at the 2009 European Jumping Championships. (kevinstaut.com, 11 Aug 2010)

General
STABLES
In 2002 he set up his own equestrian business, Ecurie Kevin Staut, using the stables that his grandfather had created in his weekend property. Since 2008 he has been based in Petit-Mars just near Nantes, and in 2010 he moved to Belgium to the Ecaussinnes stables. (kevinstaut.com, 22 Aug 2011)

COMMUNITY WORK
He is an ambassador for Just World International, the charitable foundation established by former equestrian rider Jessica Newman which is dedicated to huminatarian causes. (FEI, 11 Aug 2010)
