General
TRAINING GROUP AND MOTIVATION
He has spoken of the positive affect training with his teammates has on his performance. "The guys are very demanding and that helps me improve, mainly because of self-respect. I try to be better every day because they are better every day. I like that because we feed from each other's motivation and that is very important to the group." (cubadebate.cu, 20 Jan 2012)

LONDON 2012 PREPARATIONS
To prepare for the 2012 Olympic Games in London he travelled to Martinica: "I am very tired because I am in heavy training," he said in January. "But everything is going as planned, so I am happy. I am very focused on London, but not obsessed. My only concern is arriving there in top form." (cubadebate.cu, 17 Jan 2012)

DISQUALIFICATION
He finished first at the 2011 World Championships in Daegu but was disqualified for blocking Liu Xang. He felt aggrieved by the decision. "Things like that happen and you have to continue. I am convinced that if I came from a powerful country, this would have never happened." (ecured.cu, 2011)

LACK OF SUPPORT
