General
GREENEDGE
He joined Australian cycling team GreenEDGE in 2011. "To ride for an Australian team has been a dream of mine since I turned pro way back in 1995. I wasn't sure such a team would come around before I retired, but I'm glad it has. I've spent quite a few years supporting the Schleck brothers [Frank and Andy] at the Tour de France, then Fabian Cancellara in the classics. Working alongside Jens Voigt has been like working for family. I regard it as a privilege to have raced with those guys, and deciding to leave Leopard Trek to join GreenEDGE has been the hardest decision of my career." (theaustralian.com.au, 09 Aug 2011)

MUGGING
He was ordered not to race again that season after being mugged in Toulouse, France, in September 1999. He suffered two fractures of the skull and doctors found traces of blood on his brain following the incident. (independent.co.uk, 10 Sep 1999)

Previous Olympics

Beijing 2008, Athens 2004, Sydney 2000, Atlanta 1996, Barcelona 1992
