He was forced to retire from the doubles semifinal of the 2005 French Open with an injury to his left wrist. He had surgery on the wrist in June 2005 and missed two months of competition. (ATP, 03 Jul 2006)

LONGEST DOUBLES MATCH
In 2006 he and partner Mark Knowles made history with their quarterfinal victory against Todd Perry and Simon Aspelin. Their 3-2 win was played over two days and lasted six hours and nine minutes as they finally won the decisive fifth set 23-21.
