Injuries
In 2009 he picked up a strange injury when he tried a 40m sprint against his manager in South Africa. His manager, Uros Zager won as Kozmus retired injured with a thigh tear. He was initially told it would need three months of rest to recover, but two weeks of intensive therapy from his physio, Khalid Nasif, saved his season. (berlin.iaaf.org, 17 Aug 2009)

General
RETIREMENT AND COMEBACK
In October 2009 he announced his retirement from the sport. "I've reached my peak. It is time to say goodbye. Olympic and world champion is enough, I cannot do more ... Goodbye."
