CONTROVERSY
In the final of three races in her semifinal of the sprint event at the 2008 Olympic Games against Australian Anna Meares, she crossed the line first but was later relegated to second when the judges decided she had illegally 'pushed' Meares onto the blue band of the track. She eventually finished with the bronze medal in that event after defeating Willy Kanis of Netherlands 2-0 in their third place playoff contest. (cctv.com, 19 Aug 2008)
NATIONAL FIRST
She became the first Asian cyclist to qualify for the semifinal of an Olympic sprint event when she beat Natallia Tsylinskaya of Belarus in their quarterfinal contest at the 2008 Beijing Games. (China Daily, 19 Aug 2008).
