AUSPICIOUS START

MIXED MARTIAL ARTS BOUT
He was lured into competing in a professional Japanese mixed martial arts [MMA] competition just four months after winning gold at the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens. He was matched with ex-professional wrestler, Kazuyuki Fujita, from Japan. The bout lasted just over one minute as Fujita, an experienced MMA campaigner, knocked him out relatively easily without Gaber really making an impression. He never again fought in a MMA competition.
