Her father, Nelsinho Santos, represented Brazil in the men's 4x100m finals at both the 1980 Moscow and 1984 Los Angeles Olympic Games. Her mother, Sheila, won bronze in the women's 4x100m final at the 1987 Pan American Games in Indianapolis.(olimpiadas.uol.com.br, 2008)
