General
CALM EXTERIOR HIDES STRESS
Even at the age of thirty and with three world championships, she admits she still experiences stress before each combat: "At thirty I am feeling absolutely great, but I still have this stress before each combat, like when I was younger. I can't explain it. But when my hands are on my opponent, when I get hold of their sleeve and see the girl in front start to go off balance, I feel strong. Psychologically, too, I feel as if I have a presence over the other girls. I see that they look at me in the corridors before a competition, and I act like I have this air of calm serenity when in fact I am quite stressed on the inside." (20minutes.fr, 26 Aug 2011)

She was born and raised in Paris to a mother from French Guiana [off the northern coast of South America] and she lived for three years in her mother's native land from age 14 to 17. She travels back to Guiana every year to visit family and friends. (franceguyane.fr, 29 Aug 2011)
