FAMILY
His father married three wives and he is the fourth born child from his mother. After completing the first two Diamond League races in 2011, his mother passed away and he returned home for the burial for two weeks. He was not able to do any training during this period.

WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS
He missed the 2011 World Championships in Daegu despite initially being selected for the squad. He had been granted a wild card but, after taking time off training for the funeral of his mother, his performance dipped and he was replaced by Daniel Kipchirchir Koemn.
