General
SINGLE RESPONSIBILITY
He does not share the common perception about single sculls. "People think the single is quite a lonely boat, And, yes, it can be frustrating sometimes because you have to go out there and do it on your own. If things are not going well, there's nobody in the boat to try and motivate you and push you along. Conversely, if it's going well, you know that it is you that's getting it right. I enjoy that responsibility." (sport.independent.co.uk, 20 Aug 2006)

FROM SOLDIER TO OLYMPIAN
Before he became a member of the Great Britain national team he was studying and working within the Royal Military structure. He even gave up a position at the prestigious Sandhurst Academy to follow his sporting dream. (GB Rowing, 01 Aug 2007)

PLACE IN HISTORY
In 2006 he won the 166th edition of the Wingfield Sculls. The event is thought to be the oldest sculling race in the world and is therefore one of the most prestigious. ( leander.co.uk, 01 Aug 2008)
