Injuries

In 2011 he dislocated a knee while attempting to mount a fixed wheel bike at an even in Indonesia. (uk.eurosport.yahoo.com, 07 Jun 2012)

His calf muscle was skewered by a 20cm shard of the wooden track during a crash in the keirin final at the 2011 World Cup event in Manchester. The crash, coming of the final bend, wiped out five of the six participants with Awang managing to get back on his bike to claim bronze before collapsing to the floor and being stretchered to hospital.
