Reason for taking up this sport
When he was a kid he practised handball, athletics and boxing. He felt he was better at boxing so he pursued that route, even when his father advised him not to. He said there was a lot of arguing about his choice at first but that once his father realized he was taking seriously he began to support him. (guerrillero.cu, 22 Dec 2011)

THE MIRROR
When he was only nine years old, and in the midst of constant arguing with his father who did not particularly approve of his boxing activities, he wrote in a mirror "Kiddo-World Champion" [his father used to call him kiddo].
