What are NOCs and NPCs?

National Olympic Committees (NOCs) and National Paralympic Committees (NPCs) are the national organisations responsible for the selection, preparation and management of their respective teams.

The NOC for Great Britain is the British Olympic Association, the NPC is the British Paralympic Association.

National Olympic Committee and National Paralympic Committee relations

Planning is already underway to ensure the London 2012 Games are a great experience for those taking part.

We have established the NOC and NPC Services and Relations team to liaise with National Olympic Committees (NOCs) and National Paralympic Committees (NPCs).

The team sits within the Sport department and works closely with them to ensure that sport and the athletes' needs are at the heart of everything we deliver.

LOCOG has already hosted a number of NOC and NPC visits and looks forward to hearing from any other NOCs and NPCs who would like to visit London and meet with us. Please read our Visit Guidelines (PDF 32KB) and then contact us to discuss a potential visit.

Regular communication with NOCs and NPCs will be through our newsletter – ‘Inform’.  This will provide technical updates in operational matters from the NOC and NPC Services and Relations team and other functional areas across LOCOG. Download 'Inform' (PDF, 3MB).

In summer 2008 we launched our Pre-Games Training Camps Guide – which showcases UK-wide training facilities for all NOCs and NPCs. Over 600 high quality facilities from across the UK have been selected to appear in the Guide.

There will also be funds available to each NOC and NPC - up to a maximum of £25,000 - to contribute to the use of approved Pre-Games Training Camps
