The BOA

The British Olympic Association (BOA)
For top athletes from any sport to win medals at the Games they need support.

As the National Olympic Committee for Great Britain and Northern Ireland, the BOA’s principal role is to prepare and lead the nation’s finest athletes at the Summer, Winter and Youth Olympic Games.

Working with the National Governing Bodies of Olympic Sports, the BOA selects Team GB from the best sportsmen and women who will go on to compete in the 26 Summer and seven Winter Olympic sports at the greatest sporting competition in the world.

At the London 2012 Olympic Games, Team GB will be the largest single team to represent the nation in any sporting event for over 100 years. It will compete in more sports and more disciplines than ever before, and its mission is for athletes to perform at their best, culminating in Team GB delivering more medals, from more sports, than in Beijing 2008.
