ParalympicsGB

The British Paralympic Association (BPA)
The BPA, as the National Paralympic Committee of Great Britain, is responsible for sending the best prepared British team – the ParalympicsGB team – to compete at the Summer and Winter Paralympic Games.

At the Beijing 2008 Paralympic Games, ParalympicsGB had its most successful Games ever, winning 42 gold medals and finishing second on the medal table.

At the London Paralympic Games, ParalympicsGB intend to win more medals across more sports than in Beijing. To achieve this goal ParalympicsGB will work with their  sporting partners to ensure that they take the best prepared team ever to the Games.

Inspiring lasting change

As well as sending the best possible team to the Paralympic Games, the BPA has a responsibility to promote the Paralympic Movement and ideals in Great Britain. The BPA are hoping to achieve a shift in perceptions of disability through the performances of Paralympians at the Games, and its mission is to use the power of London 2012 to inspire lasting change in disability sport. It is committed to leading Paralympic sport in the UK and improving sporting opportunities for disabled people, from grass roots through to elite level.

Tim Reddish, Chairman of the BPA, said: 'The London 2012 Paralympic Games provides ParalympicsGB with a fantastic opportunity to showcase the best of Paralympic sport to the UK and to the world. We hope that London will host the most inclusive and accessible Games ever.
