We're already off the mark with our first Education Inspire project 'Today’s Youth: Tomorrow's Leaders', which launches in October. The programme aims to use the power of the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games to inspire pupils to volunteer in sport at school and in the community.
I had a chance to experience firsthand what the Inspire Programme is all about with the region's Open Weekend celebrations. On Saturday myself and around 2,011 other locals attempted Yorkshire's 2,012 dance in Centenary Square, Bradford.
The dance involved loads of Olympic Sport inspired moves from shot putting to martial arts! It was an impressive sight seeing so many people of all ages simultaneously complete the routine. Luckily for everyone else my efforts were concentrated on what I was doing behind the camera...so no one was hurt!
Yorkshire's 2,012 dance was part of Step Up Bradford; a great example of what the Inspire Programme is all about: joining in, trying something new, having fun and celebrating the 2012 Games coming to the UK.
Events like Step Up Bradford set the standard and will hopefully inspire others in the region to think about how they can take part.
