Winter Olympic Games?
Paul, ODA Filming Assistant
With seemingly half of the country absent from work on Monday, having been ‘snowed in’, the ODA Filming team got themselves very excited about the prospect of heading over to the Olympic Park to photograph a deserted site covered in the white stuff.

The blizzard-like conditions made it impossible for many workers to get into work. This, along with the obvious health and safety issues that site managers have to consider in these conditions, led to the inevitable closure of the Park for the day.

The concrete terraces on the Olympic Stadium were covered in snow from the top row down. The ice on the Stadium tower cranes made it far too dangerous for the crane operators to climb up to their cabs safely. So the cranes were rendered redundant for the day and left to point freely into the wind like giant weather vanes fortelling further incoming weather.

The unusual arctic blast painted the Park in a very different light this week.  From a viewing platform overlooking the Park, the snow-covered mounds looked like a tobogganer's paradise that was just out of reach. We were happy that we had decided to drive a 4x4 onto the Park and then made a not-so-speedy getaway back to our nice warm office.
