Lynn Booth is leading on Physical Therapy Services, which includes physiotherapy, sports massage therapy etc. Lynn has extensive experience working with Team GB and has been Head of Physiotherapy at a number of Games. She currently works for a range of sports at an international level and led the planning for Physical Therapy Services for the Commonwealth Games in Manchester.
Laurence Gant is a Consultant and Clinical Director in Emergency Medicine at Homerton Hospital. Laurence will lead the planning for clinical services at the athlete polyclinics, at the Football cities and primary care services at other venues for IOC Family Members and the media. Homerton Hospital is designated as the athletes’ hospital for the Games.
Phil O’Connor is a Consultant in Musculoskeletal Radiography in Leeds and is an expert on the issues related to elite athletes. He will deliver a very complex but crucial scanning service (MRI, ultrasound, X-ray etc) to athletes at Games-time in the athletes’ Villages and all five Football cities.
Mark Stuart is a registered pharmacist who currently works for the British Medical Journal Group as Director of the International Forum for Quality and Safety in Healthcare. Mark has worked at three Olympic Games, led the planning for Pharmacy Services at the Commonwealth Games in Manchester and worked as a consultant pharmacist for the Melbourne Commonwealth Games in 2006. In 2008, he was invited to train the pharmacists and clinical staff providing services at the Equestrian events in Hong Kong for the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games. Mark will plan all pharmacy services at all venues at the Olympic and Paralympic Games, including setting up a licensed pharmacy at the main Olympic Village in Stratford.
David Zideman is a Consultant Anaesthetist at Hammersmith Hospital. He has extensive experience providing medical services at public and sporting events and is Queen’s Honorary Physician (Civilian). In addition, he is a Commander in the Order of St John, a consultant for the Helicopter Emergency Medical Service and has chaired many local, national and international committees related to resuscitation and emergency treatment. David will lead the planning and delivery of emergency medical care at the Games. This includes the care of athletes on the field of play, the IOC Family and other dignitaries and officials and spectators.
This year presents us with the opportunity to focus on our service provision at Games time and really develop comprehensive plans to deliver fantastic medical care and with these people on board, we are certainly in great shape to achieve this.
