We're just over half way from when we won the bid to host the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games. Encouraging people across the country to take up sport and develop healthy and sustainable lifestyles was part of our Singapore promise.  So what have we been

Meanwhile, we are already thinking about what everyone will be eating when they come to the Games – that includes athletes, workforce and spectators among others...a subject for a blog of it's own...

  • We have supported 10 UK-wide projects encouraging sport participation as part of the Inspire Programme so far. For example, Lloyds TSB National School Sport Week engaged more than 10,000 schools and 3 million young people across Britain.
  • We are already well underway to build two new and enhance six walking and cycling routes as part of our Walking and Cycling Plans.
  • Through the events we host we aim to encourage healthy lifestyles by following our Sustainability Guidelines for Corporate and Public Events.
  • Work on the Olympic Park workers has been recognised for the highest healthy safety and environment achievements and healthy eating options are being provided for construction workers.
