Last week we had a fantastic time on our exhibition stand at the Education Show, particularly because it gave us the chance to speak to teachers and students who are indescribably excited about World Sport Day.
We pulled in quite a crowd when our group of Get Set network children expertly performed the London 2012 Mascot Dance and, since the dance video was playing continuously at the stand, I’m now an expert too!
Our crate of cupcakes, beautifully decorated with flags from around the world, were also a big hit at the show.

Fun With Flags
These tasty treats weren’t just there to keep our energy levels up – although they certainly helped. No, they were an important part of our World Sport Day promotion, as we’ve just launched our Fun with Flag resources. On Monday 25 June, thousands of schools are going to rally all of their students to create flags from across the globe, to show their support for the competing nations.
They can do this in whichever crazy and colourful way they want. Whether it’s a human flag or a medley mosaic, painted on your face or on a cake, this is the school’s big moment to shine. Suffering from creative block is no excuse: we’ve come up with loads of tips and activity ideas for all the inspiration you could need!
Host your own opening ceremony
Last and certainly not least, we also have some brilliant materials to help schools host their very own opening ceremony on World Sport Day. This is a terrific way to kick off your celebrations and set the tone for the rest of the day. Pay close attention to our films, 'how-to' guides and pearls of wisdom direct from the London 2012 Ceremonies team to make your opening ceremony a memorable event.
With an abundant collection of World Sport Day resources available, it’s time to put your plans into action – and don’t forget to tell us all about them!
